Be cautious while buying shop diamonds

Shop diamonds are sold according to the four Cs that contain the international language of diamonds – carat weight, color, clarity and cut. The weight of diamonds, not their size is measured in metric carats. A single carat has one hundred points and weighs as much as a small paper clip and it is divided into decimals points. Jewelers must disclose the exact amount of carat and its range. Then there is a color of diamonds with D which is colorless, very rare and mostly desired by women as it is almost unique. Z means the diamond is light yellow or brown and not usually bought by those who know their diamonds well. White diamonds look best if they are mounted on platinum and the warmer shades of diamonds look good on yellow gold.

Before you shop diamonds, it is best if you can establish a relationship with a jeweler who has good knowledge of gems. It is good if the jeweler has a qualification, but much more important is how you feel when you are in his shop. If you don’t feel good, it is best to get out immediately. It will be better if you request a guarantee for the diamonds you are buying and it is especially recommended that you don’t buy an expensive stone without this guarantee. You can also ask for an independent grading report which will include the diamond’s detailed genealogy.

Each diamond is unique and there are no two alike. They are unique in color and clarity, size and cut. Diamonds can be very hard to purchase because both natural and man-made imperfections can change its value. While you shop diamonds look for good clarity. Clarity grades measure birthmarks and any internal flaws that are called inclusions as well as external ones called blemishes. The best grade that is flawless is FL with VS1 for slight inclusions and I3 for those with many internal flaws. Look for the cut which shows the maximum brilliance, fire and sparkle. After a written and unconditional money back guarantee from the jeweler, it would be good to get it appraised from another diamond merchant. Buy it only if you are thoroughly satisfied. The jeweler can then have a unique report number inscribed by a laser on the diamond’s outer edge. This will assist in getting your diamond back when you get it cleaned or resized.

People generally don’t think of having a diamond wedding ring as much as a diamond engagements ring. Yet there will be some brides who are so much in love with diamonds that they do not like any other stone on their wedding rings. This can be a single diamond on a wedding band or a set of two differently colored diamonds to signify the couple getting married. Both the bride and groom can wear one.
